About Louis Nijsten
CHOICE Realty & Management is proud to have Louis Nijsten as its owner and managing broker. Originally from the Netherlands, Louis moved to the Yampa Valley in 2006 alongside his brother Stef to pursue a career in real estate development and construction. With a Master of Science degree in Systems Engineering, Policy Analysis & Management from Delft University of Technology, Louis brings a unique blend of technological expertise, attention to detail, and practicality to the real estate industry.
Louis's journey in real estate began with his involvement in the development and construction of the Creek View Subdivision in Hayden. Recognizing the importance of having comprehensive knowledge of the industry, Louis decided to expand his horizons and venture into the sales and property management side of real estate. Today, he possesses a deep understanding of every facet of the real estate process, having experience in development, design, construction, sales, and property management.
As a passionate learner, Louis constantly seeks to stay ahead of the ever-evolving real estate industry, embracing new challenges and acquiring new skills. His dedication to personal growth and professional development ensures that CHOICE Realty & Management remains at the forefront of the market.
Beyond Real Estate
Louis understands the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance. When he's not immersed in real estate ventures, Louis cherishes spending quality time with his wife and two sons. As a lover of nature, he takes full advantage of the breathtaking Colorado outdoors, engaging in various activities such as mountain biking, skiing, running, and hiking. Moreover, Louis is an avid tennis player and has devoted over five years to coaching the Steamboat High School tennis team.
In recognition of his expertise and contributions to the industry, Louis volunteers on the Board of Directors of the Steamboat Springs Board of Realtors as the Treasurer. His involvement in the real estate community enables him to stay connected, contribute to the profession, and continue growing as a real estate leader.
Louis's passion for innovation and dedication to his craft was exemplified in 2018 when he co-owned and co-developed the first "tiny-homes" development in Routt County. This pioneering project highlights his commitment to pushing boundaries and exploring unconventional opportunities within the real estate market.

CHAD CALIHAN - Associate Broker
Chad Calihan
Chad joined CHOICE in 2020. Chad, an Alabama native, first sold real estate in the early 2000's in Florida. He graduated from north Georgia university in 2004 with a bachelors of science with marketing focus. When he relocated to the Yampa Valley, it was initially to snowboard and enjoy the winter weather. Once he met his wife, he realized that this was his forever home and worked to get a Colorado real estate license. Using his marketing background, good judgment, and eye for detail, Chad has found a niche in the real estate world with concentrating on property management. He also helps clients buy and sell their homes in both Moffat and Routt counties.
When not working, Chad loves spending time with his wife and his crazy dog Jazz. He enjoys the snowboarding, dirt biking and exploring the Rocky Mountains. Chad frequently volunteers with the Routt County Humane Society and loves attending local events. Click here to contact Chad directly by email.
